Frustrating Jesus’ ministry

Mk 1,40-45 And there came a leper to
him, beseeching him, and kneeling down to him, and saying unto him, If thou
wilt, thou canst make me clean. And Jesus, moved with compassion, put forth his
hand, and touched him, and saith unto him, I will; be thou clean. And as soon as
he had spoken, immediately the leprosy departed from him, and he was cleansed.
And he straitly charged him, and forthwith sent him away; And saith unto him,
See thou say nothing to any man: but go thy way, shew thyself to the priest, and
offer for thy cleansing those things which Moses commanded, for a testimony unto
them. But he went out, and began to publish it much, and to blaze abroad the
matter, insomuch that Jesus could no more openly enter into the city, but was
without in desert places: and they came to him from every quarter.
Lk 9,51-56 And it came to pass, when
the time was come that he should be received up, he stedfastly set his face to
go to Jerusalem, And sent messengers before his face: and they went, and entered
into a village of the Samaritans, to make ready for him. And they did not
receive him, because his face was as though he would go to Jerusalem. And when
his disciples James and John saw this, they said, Lord, wilt thou that we
command fire to come down from heaven, and consume them, even as Elias did? But
he turned, and rebuked them, and said, Ye know not what manner of spirit ye are
of. For the Son of man is not come to destroy men's lives, but to save them. And
they went to another village.
Jn 4-44 For
Jesus himself testified, that a prophet hath no honour in his own country.
1Cor 6,15-20 Know
ye not that your bodies are the members of Christ? shall I then take the members
of Christ, and make them the members of an harlot? God forbid. What? know ye not
that he which is joined to an harlot is one body? for two, saith he, shall be
one flesh. But he that is joined unto the Lord is one spirit. Flee fornication.
Every sin that a man doeth is without the body; but he that commiteth
fornication sinneth against his own body. What? know ye not that your body is
the temple of the Holy Ghost which is in you, which ye have of God, and ye are
not your own? For ye are bought with a price: therefore glorify God in your
body, and in your spirit, which are God's.
1Cor 12,15-21 If the foot shall say,
Because I am not the hand, I am not of the body; is it therefore not of the
body? And if the ear shall say, Because I am not the eye, I am not of the body;
is it therefore not of the body? If the whole body were an eye, where were the
hearing? If the whole were hearing, where were the smelling? But now hath God
set the members every one of them in the body, as it hath pleased him. And if
they were all one member, where were the body? But now are they many members,
yet but one body. And the eye cannot say unto the hand, I have no need of thee:
nor again the head to the feet, I have no need of you.

the liberty wherewith Christ hath made us free, and be not entangled again with
the yoke of bondage.

Lk 1,18-20 And Zacharias said unto
the angel, Whereby shall I know this? for I am an old man, and my wife well
stricken in years. And the angel answering said unto him, I am Gabriel, that
stand in the presence of God; and am sent to speak unto thee, and to shew thee
these glad tidings. And, behold, thou shalt be dumb, and not able to speak,
until the day that these things shall be performed, because thou believest not
my words, which shall be fulfilled in their season.
Rom 10,2-5,16 2-5
For I bear them record that they have a zeal of God, but not according to
knowledge. For they being ignorant of God's righteousness, and going about to
establish their own righteousness, have not submitted themselves unto the
righteousness of God. For Christ is the end of the law for righteousness to
every one that believeth. For Moses describeth the righteousness which is of the
law, That the man which doeth those things shall live by them. 16
But they have not all obeyed the gospel. For Esaias saith, Lord, who hath
believed our report?
Rom
14,1-4,10-13,20,21 1-4 Him that is
weak in the faith receive ye, but not to doubtful disputations. For one
believeth that he may eat all things: another, who is weak, eateth herbs. Let
not him that eateth despise him that eateth not; and let not him which eateth
not judge him that eateth: for God hath received him. Who art thou that judgest
another man's servant? to his own master he standeth or falleth. Yea, he shall
be holden up: for God is able to make him stand. 10-13 But why dost thou
judge thy brother? or why dost thou set at nought thy brother? for we shall all
stand before the judgment seat of Christ. For it is written, As I live, saith
the Lord, every knee shall bow to me, and every tongue shall confess to God. So
then every one of us shall give account of himself to God. Let us not therefore
judge one another any more: but judge this rather, that no man put a
stumblingblock or an occasion to fall in his brother's way. 20,21 For meat
destroy not the work of God. All things indeed are pure; but it is evil for that
man who eateth with offence. It is good neither to eat flesh, nor to drink wine,
nor any thing whereby thy brother stumbleth, or is offended, or is made weak.
1Cor 7-1,2,7-9,28,34 1,2 Now
concerning the things whereof ye wrote unto me: It is good for a man not to
touch a woman. Nevertheless, to avoid fornication, let every man have his own
wife, and let every woman have her own husband. 7-9 For I would that all
men were even as I myself. But every man hath his proper gift of God, one after
this manner, and another after that. I say therefore to the unmarried and
widows, It is good for them if they abide even as I. But if they cannot contain,
let them marry: for it is better to marry than to burn. 28 But and if thou
marry, thou hast not sinned; and if a virgin marry, she hath not sinned.
Nevertheless such shall have trouble in the flesh: but I spare you. 34
There is difference also between a wife and a virgin. The unmarried woman careth
for the things of the Lord, that she may be holy both in body and in spirit: but
she that is married careth for the things of the world, how she may please her
husband.
1Cor 14-33,37-40 33 For God is not
the author of confusion, but of peace, as in all churches of the saints.

Mk 2-21,22 No man also seweth a
piece of new cloth on an old garment: else the new piece that filled it up
taketh away from the old, and the rent is made worse. And no man putteth new
wine into old bottles: else the new wine doth burst the bottles, and the wine is
spilled, and the bottles will be marred: but new wine must be put into new
bottles.
Rom 8,4-8,12,13 4-8 That the
righteousness of the law might be fulfilled in us, who walk not after the flesh,
but after the Spirit. For they that are after the flesh do mind the things of
the flesh; but they that are after the Spirit the things of the Spirit. For to
be carnally minded is death; but to be spiritually minded is life and peace.
Because the carnal mind is enmity against God: for it is not subject to the law
of God, neither indeed can be. So then they that are in the flesh cannot please
God. 12,13 Therefore, brethren, we are debtors, not to the flesh, to live
after the flesh. For if ye live after the flesh, ye shall die: but if ye through
the Spirit do mortify the deeds of the body, ye shall live.
2Cor 6-1 We then, as workers

Gal 3,1-14 O
foolish Galatians, who hath bewitched you, that ye should not obey the truth,
before whose eyes Jesus Christ hath been evidently set forth, crucified among
you? This only would I learn of you, Received ye the Spirit by the works of the
law, or by the hearing of faith? Are ye so foolish? having begun in the Spirit,
are ye now made perfect by the flesh? Have ye suffered so many things in vain?
if it be yet in vain. He therefore that ministereth to you the Spirit, and
worketh miracles among you, doeth he it by the works of the law, or by the
hearing of faith? Even as Abraham believed God, and it was accounted to him for
righteousness. Know ye therefore that they which are of faith, the same are the
children of Abraham. And the scripture, foreseeing that God would justify the
heathen through faith, preached before the gospel unto Abraham, saying, In thee
shall all nations be blessed. So then they which be of faith are blessed with
faithful Abraham. For as many as are of the works of the law are under the
curse: for it is written, Cursed is every one that continueth not in all things
which are written in the book of the law to do them. But that no man is
justified by the law in the sight of God, it is evident: for, The just shall
live by faith. And the law is not of faith: but, The man that doeth them shall
live in them. Christ hath redeemed us from the curse of the law, being made a
curse for us: for it is written, Cursed is every one that hangeth on a tree:
That the blessing of Abraham might come on the Gentiles through Jesus Christ;
that we might receive the promise of the Spirit through faith.

Lk 10,10-16 But into whatsoever city
ye enter, and they receive you not, go your ways out into the streets of the
same, and say, Even the very dust of your city, which cleaveth on us, we do wipe
off against you: notwithstanding be ye sure of this, that the kingdom of God is
come nigh unto you. But I say unto you, that it shall be more tolerable in that
day for Sodom, than for that city. Woe unto thee, Chorazin! woe unto thee,
Bethsaida! for if the mighty works had been done in Tyre and Sidon, which have
been done in you, they had a great while ago repented, sitting in sackcloth and
ashes. But it shall be more tolerable for Tyre and Sidon at the judgment, than
for you. And thou, Capernaum, which art exalted to heaven, shalt be thrust down
to hell. He that heareth you heareth me; and he that despiseth you despiseth me;
and he that despiseth me despiseth him that sent me.
Act 24,24-27 And after certain days,
when Felix came with his wife Drusilla, which was a Jewess, he sent for Paul,
and heard him concerning the faith in Christ. And as he reasoned of
righteousness, temperance, and judgment to come Felix trembled, and answered, Go
thy way for this time; when I have a convenient season, I will call for thee. He
hoped also that money should have been given him of Paul, that he might loose
him: wherefore he sent for him the oftener, and communed with him. But after two
years Porcius Festus came into Felix' room: and Felix, willing to shew the Jews
a pleasure, left Paul bound.
1Cor 3,1-5 And
I, brethren, could not speak unto you as unto spiritual, but as unto carnal,
even as unto babes in Christ. I have fed you with milk, and not with meat: for
hitherto ye were not able to bear it, neither yet now are ye able. For ye are
yet carnal: for whereas there is among you envying, and strife, and divisions,
are ye not carnal, and walk as men? For while one saith, I am of Paul; and
another, I am of Apollos; are ye not carnal? Who then is Paul, and who is
Apollos, but ministers by whom ye believed, even as the Lord gave to every man?
1Cor
6,4-8 If then ye have judgments of
things pertaining to this life, set them to judge who are least esteemed in the
church. I speak to your shame. Is it so, that there is not a wise man among you?
no, not one that shall be able to judge between his brethren? But brother goeth
to law with brother, and that before the unbelievers. Now therefore there is
utterly a fault among you, because ye go to law one with another. Why do ye not
rather take wrong? why do ye not rather suffer yourselves to be defrauded? Nay,
ye do wrong, and defraud, and that your brethren.
2Cor 13-2 I told you before, and

Mat 26-31,35,69-75 31 Then saith
Jesus unto them, All ye shall be offended because of me this night: for it is
written, I will smite the shepherd, and the sheep of the flock shall be
scattered abroad. 69-75 Now Peter sat
without in the palace: and a damsel came unto him, saying, Thou also wast with
Jesus of Galilee. But he denied before them all, saying, I know not what thou
sayest. And when he was gone out into the porch, another maid saw him, and said
unto them that were there, This fellow was also with Jesus of Nazareth. And
again he denied with an oath, I do not know the man. And after a while came unto
him they that stood by, and said to Peter, Surely thou also art one of them; for
thy speech bewrayeth thee. Then began he to curse and to swear, saying, I know
not the man. And immediately the cock crew. And Peter remembered the word of
Jesus, which said unto him, Before the cock crow, thou shalt deny me thrice. And
he went out, and wept bitterly.

circumcised, that he is a debtor to do the whole law. Christ is become of no
effect unto you, whosoever of you are justified by the law; ye are fallen from
grace.

Heb 6,4-8 For it is impossible for
those who were once enlightened, and have tasted of the heavenly gift, and were
made partakers of the Holy Ghost, And have tasted the good word of God, and the
powers of the world to come, If they shall fall away, to renew them again unto
repentance; seeing they crucify to themselves the Son of God afresh, and put him
to an open shame. For the earth which drinketh in the rain that cometh oft upon
it, and bringeth forth herbs meet for them by whom it is dressed, receiveth
blessing from God: But that which beareth thorns and briers is rejected, and is
nigh unto cursing; whose end is to be burned.

10,26-31,37-39 26-31 For if we sin
wilfully after that we have received the knowledge of the truth, there remaineth
no more sacrifice for sins, But a certain fearful looking for of judgment and
fiery indignation, which shall devour the adversaries. He that despised Moses'
law died without mercy under two or three witnesses: Of how much sorer
punishment, suppose ye, shall he be thought worthy, who hath trodden under foot
the Son of God, and hath counted the blood of the covenant, wherewith he was
sanctified, an unholy thing, and hath done despite unto the Spirit of grace? For
we know him that hath said, Vengeance belongeth unto me, I will recompense,
saith the Lord. And again, The Lord shall judge his people. It is a fearful
thing to fall into the hands of the living God. 37-39 For yet a little
while, and he that shall come will come, and will not tarry. Now the just shall
live by faith: but if any man draw back, my soul shall have no pleasure in him.
But we are not of them who draw back unto perdition; but of them that believe to
the saving of the soul.

because they received not the love of the truth, that they might be saved. And
for this cause God shall send them strong delusion, that they should believe a

gospel's, the same shall save it. For what shall it profit a man, if he shall
gain the whole world, and lose his own soul? Or what shall a man give in
exchange for his soul? Whosoever therefore shall be ashamed of me and of my
words in this adulterous and sinful generation; of him also shall the Son of man

them, Well hath Esaias prophesied of you hypocrites, as it is written, This
people honoureth me with their lips, but their heart is far from me. Howbeit in
vain do they worship me, teaching for doctines the commandments of men. For
laying aside the commandment of God, ye hold the tradition of men, as the

Lk 18-22,23 Now when Jesus heard
these things, he said unto him, Yet lackest thou one thing: sell all that thou

Jn 3,18-20 He that believeth on him
is not condemned: but he that believeth not is condemned already, because he
hath not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God. And this is the
condemnation, that light is come into the world, and men loved darkness rather
than light, because their deeds were evil. For every one that doeth evil hateth

9,18-23 But the Jews did not believe
concerning him, that he had been blind, and received his sight, until they
called the parents of him that had received his sight. And they asked them,
saying, Is this your son, who ye say was born blind? how then doth he now see?
His parents answered them and said, We know that this is our son, and that he
was born blind: But by what means he now seeth, we know not; or who hath opened
his eyes, we know not: he is of age; ask him: he shall speak for himself. These
words spake his parents, because they feared the Jews: for the Jews had agreed
already, that if any man did confess that he was Christ, he should be put out of
the synagogue. Therefore said his parents, He is of age; ask him.
Jn 12-42,43 Nevertheless

brought Jesus forth, and sat down in the judgment seat in a place that is called
the Pavement, but in the Hebrew, Gabbatha. And it was the preparation of the
passover, and about the sixth hour: and he saith unto the Jews, Behold your
King! But they cried out, Away with him, away with him, crucify him. Pilate
saith unto them, Shall I crucify your King? The chief priest answered, We have

they that will be rich fall into temptation and a snare, and into many foolish

1Cor 1,18-29 For
the preaching of the cross is to them that perish foolishness; but unto us which
are saved it is the power of God. For it is written, I will destroy the wisdom
of the wise, and will bring to nothing the understanding of the prudent. Where
is the wise? where is the scribe? where is the disputer of this world? hath not
God made foolish the wisdom of this world? For after that in the wisdom of God
the world by wisdom knew not God, it pleased God by the foolishness of preaching
to save them that believe. For the Jews require a sign, and the Greeks seek
after wisdom: But we preach Christ crucified, unto the Jews a stumblingblock,
and unto the Greeks foolishness; But unto them which are called, both Jews and
Greeks, Christ the power of God, and the wisdom of God. Because the foolishness
of God is wiser than men; and the weakness of God is stronger than men. For ye
see your calling, brethren, how that not many wise men after the flesh, not many
mighty, not many noble, are called: But God hath chosen the foolish things of
the world to confound the wise; and God hath chosen the weak things of the world
to confound the things which are mighty; And base things of the world, and
things which are despised, hath God chosen, yea, and things which are not, to
bring to nought things that are: That no flesh should glory in his presence.
1Cor 2,6-8 Howbeit
we speak wisdom among them that are perfect: yet not the wisdom of this world,
nor of the princes of this world, that come to nought: But we speak the wisdom
of God in a mystery, even the hidden wisdom, which God ordained before the world

it, they would not have crucified the Lord of glory.

blinded: for until this day remaineth the same vail untaken away in the reading
of the old testament; which vail is done away in Christ. But even unto this day,
when Moses is read, the vail is upon their heart. Nevertheless when it shall
turn to the Lord, the vail shall be taken away.
1Jn 4-4,5 Ye are of God, little
children, and have overcome them: because greater is he that is in you, than he
that is in the world. They are of the world: therefore speak they of the world,
and the world heareth them.
Rev 13-4 And
they worshipped the dragon which gave power unto the beast: and they worshipped
the beast, saying, Who is like unto the beast? who is able to make war with him?

Mat 26,63-68 But Jesus held his
peace. And the high priest answered and said unto him, I adjure thee by the
living God, that thou tell us whether thou be the Christ, the Son of God. Jesus
saith unto him, Thou hast said: nevertheless I say unto you, Hereafter shall ye
see the Son of man sitting on the right hand of power, and coming in the clouds
of heaven. Then the high priest rent his clothes, saying, He hath spoken
blasphemy; what further need have we of witnesses? behold, now ye have heard his
blasphemy. What think ye? They answered and said, He is guilty of death. Then
did they spit in his face, and buffeted him; and others smote him with the palms
of their hands, Saying, Prophesy unto us, thou Christ, Who is he that smote
thee?

27-24,25,39-44 24,25 When Pilate saw
that he could prevail nothing, but that rather a tumult was made, he took water,
and washed his hands before the multitude, saying, I am innocent of the blood of
this just person: see ye to it. Then answered all the people, and said, His
blood be on us, and on our children. 39-44 And they that passed by reviled
him, wagging their heads, And saying, Thou that destroyest the temple, and
buildest it in three days, save thyself. If thou be the Son of God, come down
from the cross. Likewise also the chief priests mocking him, with the scribes
and elders, said, He saved others; himself he cannot save. If he be the King of
Israel, let him now come down from the cross, and we will believe him. He
trusted in God; let him deliver him now, if he will have him: for he said, I am
the Son of God. The thieves also, which were crucified with him, cast the same
in his teeth.
Act 3,13-15 The
God of Abraham, and of Isaac, and of Jacob, the God of our fathers, hath
glorified his Son Jesus; whom ye delivered up, and denied him in the presence of
Pilate, when he was determined to let him go. But ye denied the Holy One and the
Just, and desired a murderer to be granted unto you; And killed the Prince of
life, whom God hath raised from the dead; whereof we are witnesses.
Act 22,18-22 And saw him saying unto
me, Make haste, and get thee quickly out of Jerusalem: for they will not receive
thy testimony concerning me. And I said, Lord, they know that I imprisoned and
beat in every synagogue them that believed on thee: And when the blood of thy
martyr Stephen was shed, I also was standing by, and consenting unto his death,
and kept the raiment of them that slew him. And he said unto me, Depart: for I
will send thee far hence unto the Gentiles. And they gave him audience unto this
word, and then lifted up their voices, and said, Away with such a fellow from
the earth: for it is not fit that he should live.

Mat 11-6 And blessed is he,
whosoever shall not be offended in me.
Lk 16,27-31 Then he said, I pray
thee therefore, father, that thou wouldest send him to my father's house: For I
have five brethren; that he may testify unto them, lest they also come into this
place of torment. Abraham saith unto him, They have Moses and the prophets; let
them hear them. And he said, Nay, father Abraham: but if one went unto them from
the dead, they will repent. And he said unto him, If they hear not Moses and the
prophets, neither will they be persuaded, though one rose from the dead.
Jn 9,39-41 And
Jesus said, For judgment I am come into this world, that they which see not
might see; and that they which see might be made blind. And some of the
Pharisees which were with him heard these words, and said unto him, Are we blind
also? Jesus said unto them, If ye were blind, ye should have no sin: but now ye
say, We see; therefore your sin remaineth.
2Jn-7 For many deceivers are entered into
the world, who confess not that Jesus Christ is come in the flesh. This is a
deceiver and an antichrist.
